To book a training session or make an enquiry, please fill out our Training Enquiry Form at the bottom of this page. This form helps us understand your specific needs and preferences, ensuring we tailor the session to best serve your organisation. Once submitted, our team will contact you and arrange an opportunity to discuss your learning requirements and schedule your session.

What topics are covered in the training?

Our training covers a range of topics including the different types of assistance dogs, the legal rights of assistance dog users outlined in the Equality Act (2010) and the Disability Discrimination Act (1995) Northern Ireland, best practices for interacting with assistance dogs and their handlers, and how to create an accessible environment. We also promote the work of ADUK, discuss task and alert behaviours, specific scenarios that staff may encounter and provide practical tips for effective communication and support.

Who should attend the training sessions?

Training is ideal for any staff members who interact with the public, including front-line employees, security, customer service representatives, and management teams. One to one sessions are also helpful to professionals creating staff guidance for welcoming those with assistance dogs. Your organisation volunteers are also most welcome to attend.

How long is the training, and what format does it take?

Our training sessions typically last between 45 minutes to an hour, which includes an opportunity for questions. This may vary depending on the depth of content covered and the needs of the participants.
Our convenient online training sessions have proved popular with service providers, allowing for scalability and the option to record the session for those unable to attend on the day. We also offer in-person workshops to accommodate learning preferences and schedules.

Can the training be customised for our specific industry or business needs?

Absolutely. We understand that each organisation has unique requirements and challenges. We are happy to collaborate with you to tailor the training content and resources to better suit your specific context, ensuring your team receives the most relevant and practical insights.

Will participants receive any materials or resources after the training?

Yes, participants will receive links to a comprehensive set of resources available on our website after the training, including our Quick Guides. These materials are designed to support ongoing learning and help staff implement what they’ve learned in their daily interactions.

Fees

Our training sessions are currently offered free of charge, and organisations are welcome to book multiple sessions as needed. While we are happy to accept donations from corporate businesses, this is absolutely not required. We are committed to providing free training to support our mission and ensure accessibility for all.

Please note this enquiry form is not designed for those wanting information about training their own assistance dog. ADUK do not offer assistance dog training but we do have information about training your assistance dog on our website at Training an Assistance Dog – ADUK (assistancedogs.org.uk)
