Employer: Hearing Dogs for Deaf People

Job Title: Hearing Dog Partnership Advisor (Yorkshire)

Job Location: Community Based

Salary: £25,000

Hours: 12 month contract

Job Description:

At Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, we create unique partnerships between specially trained hearing dogs and people with hearing loss. These partnerships transform lives — delivering companionship, confidence, and connection.

We are passionate about helping people live well with hearing loss. In this role, you’ll play a crucial part in sustaining life-changing partnerships, while working in a supportive, knowledgeable, and dedicated team. You’ll see first-hand the positive impact of your work on people’s confidence, connection, and independence.

About The Role
We are seeking a compassionate, proactive, and organised Interim Partnership Advisor to join our Partnership Support Team for a 12-month fixed term contract. You’ll manage a defined geographic area across Yorkshire, ensuring our partnerships thrive through tailored, person-centred advice, emotional support, and practical guidance. This is an impact-driven role where your work directly enhances the quality of life for the people we support.

What you’ll do

Provide tailored wellbeing, training, and behavioural support to hearing dog partnerships.
Build strong, trust-based relationships through regular visits — especially during the early months of a partnership — to address individual needs.
Be available to provide timely, high-quality support within your territory, responding to emergencies and maintaining a strong local presence.
Offer emotional and practical assistance during significant life events such as dog retirement, bereavement, or health challenges.
Collaborate with colleagues across Hearing Dogs and with external partners such as support workers, councils, employers, and veterinary practices.
Organise and attend local community events to represent the charity and strengthen engagement.
Facilitate peer support groups to encourage shared learning and connection between partnerships.
Work with volunteers, trainers, healthcare teams, and other stakeholders to improve outcomes and remove barriers.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date partnership records and ensure actions are documented.
About You
We’re looking for someone who brings professional expertise, empathy, and a solution-focused approach. You will have:

Experience in canine behaviour and training.
Excellent interpersonal skills with empathy, active listening, and cultural sensitivity.
Strong time management and organisational skills to manage a varied caseload effectively.
A proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to coach, mediate, and adapt to changing needs.
Good Deaf awareness and/or BSL Level 2 (desirable).
A full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel within Yorkshire and to our centres.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 due to its duties involving the protection of children and/or adults at risk. Applicants are therefore required to disclose all spent and unspent convictions, cautions, warnings, and reprimands, as well as any relevant non-conviction information. The successful candidate will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check in accordance with the Police Act 1997 (Part V).
