Job Title: Assistance Dog Instructor

Salary: £19,626 raising to £22,278 upon successful completion of training

Hours: Full time permanent – 37.5 hours per week

Job Description:

Support Dogs are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated, and driven Assistance Dog Instructor to join our forward-thinking Training Department. The role involves training clients with physical disabilities, medical conditions and children with autism proceeding to overseeing these teams until post-graduation where they graduate as an assistance dog partnership.

The applicant will be required to work off-site for periods of time so they must show the ability to work alone effectively, prioritise their workload accordingly, use their own initiative and have excellent time management and communication skills. They are to demonstrate a real passion for the role, a positive attitude, and show flexibility in their work. Previous experience of training dogs using positive based methods and a full clean driving licence are essential criteria for the post. Previous experience of teaching/instructing people, alongside a recognised teaching qualification are desirable qualities for the post.

Overnight duties and from time-to-time weekend work will be required for both the role and to assist in promoting the Charity by participating in activities such as fundraising events and demonstrations.
