What can ADUK do?

ADUK can review your current policy. We will check that it protects the legal rights of disabled people who rely on highly trained assistance dogs as outlined in the Equality Act (2010) and the Disability Discrimination Act (1995) Northern Ireland, as well as offering ideas on making your policy inclusive and accessible. We cannot offer legal advice or write your policy for you.

Who is this for?

Our Policy review is for organisations that interact with the public including but not exclusive to retail, food service, health care and visitor attractions. You must already have a Policy in place, ADUK will not write this for you.

How long, and what format does a review take?

Depending on the number of policies under review, ADUK will aim to return your policy to you within two weeks of receiving it. You will receive a feedback form and will have the opportunity to arrange a teams meeting or phone call to discuss the review and ask any questions. Following this, you will be invited to make contact with our education team who can offer training to your staff ensuring the policy is implemented.

We don’t have a policy, will ADUK write one for us?

No. ADUK is not able to write your policy for you. You can access our Quick Guide to writing an Assistance Dog Policy which will help guide you through the process. Once it is completed, we will be happy to review it for you through our review process. We are not able to offer legal advice.

Fees

Our policy reviews are currently offered free of charge. While we are happy to accept donations from corporate businesses, this is not required. We are committed to providing this service to support our mission and ensure accessibility for all.
